Reason, Cause and Purpose

"How does one become a butterfly?" she asked. 
"You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.”

"Reason" implies the need of justification, a person gives the reason for their preference, one offers reasons in explanation or defense.
"Cause" refers to an agent that produces or forces an effect or result.
"Purpose" denotes determination or resolution to achieve by doing something.

I have been debating how to start writing again.  It's been years since I sat down and did something creative just for ME.  I think I will start by writing myself a 'Future' letter.  Perhaps birthday greetings or just a random day with a deep thought to chew upon.
